I’d spoken to the DVLA who told me I could go to a Post Office with my green new keepers slip and they would be able to immediately change the tax class and let me pay for vehicle tax.
I’d also spoken to a gentleman over the phone before I visited to check this Post Office could do vehicle tax.
The man who served us seemed like he couldn’t be bothered and told us there were “10 million things to consider” when sorting the vehicle tax. He said he couldn’t help us change the tax class with just the green keepers slip, and told us we’d need to wait 2 weeks for a new logbook to be able to tax my car despite the DVLA telling us this would be fine. He also said there were “10 million things to consider” if we we wanted to pay by direct debit and said this might not be possible.
We left and went to a different post office, and were served by someone who immediately knew what we needed to do and had the tax sorted within 10 minutes. She also set up the direct debit with no issue.
Not an issue if he didn’t know how to help but it was frustrating that he had told us it was not possible, gave us incorrect advice and didn’t seem very interested in helping.

Queued ages then wouldn’t take the one parcel i had brought despite us already having paid.
They claimed they didn’t have space (even though there was evidently ample space)… Claimed it was health and safety issues (which is pretty laughable) as it was just a medium sized box that could have fit anywhere…
It’s the second time they refused to take the same parcel this week. Despite us having paid for a label already and it easily fitting within the required parcelforce weights and dimensions.
Offered no solutions, care or consideration. Just told us to take it somewhere else and the subpostmaster was rude.
We ship 100s of parcels a month, but won’t be using the post office in Marple again.
Asked for complaints procedure, wouldn’t share with me…!
If you are a post office then you should make every effort to accept parcels, or help people to deliver them. Not just dismiss people from your shop coz it’s not profitable for you.
