- RBRichard BerryAug 7, 20242.0I am giving 2 stars purely for 1 member of the counter staff who has been excellent in 2 recent visits. She was very helpful, courteous and professional when dealing with my questions. Unfortunately the same can't be said for her colleagues who are, at best, gruff and disinterested, and at worst, rude and unintelligible! And as many many others have commented, there are never enough counters open to deal with the volume of customers. They used to have a man working there who used to help people with the self service machines. He was great but I haven't seen him recently, possibly because the self service machines are all out of order. And finally, although the advertised closing hours are 17:30 (14:30 on Sundays), their computer systems shut down half an hour before that. They do close off the lane at around 5pm to prevent any new customers joining the queue (in theory however this is never properly communicated) but they let those already in the queue remain even though you won't be able to complete your purpose for being there if it involves them using the computer. An utter utter shambles!

Simply hand over your sealed cheque deposit envelope to the Post Office who will provide you with a receipt for your cheque deposit envelope.
Why did my Post Office refuse to issue change?
If you’ve registered for the Change Giving service, you shouldn’t be refused change at your nominated Post Office branch.
You may have been refused if you’re not signed up to this service. If you’d like to do so, contact your bank directly to find out whether they offer the service and how to sign up.
If you’ve signed up but aren’t using your nominated branch, it’s at that branch’s discretion whether they have enough change available to fulfil your request.
