The post office service is useful for the local area, but the way this place is run makes the customer experience unnecessarily frustrating. The prices for basic packaging feel excessive, around £3 for a simple plastic postage bag. What makes it worse is that the shop and the postage counter are treated as two separate businesses, so if you buy an envelope or bag and also pay for postage, you have to pay separately. There is also a £5 minimum spend for card payments on the shop side. So even if you have just spent around £10 on postage, if your envelope or bag costs less than £5, you are charged an extra 50p to pay by card. I understand they may operate separately, but this setup feels very customer unfriendly. The shop itself also feels dirty and poorly maintained, and the manager came across as arrogant and disengaged rather than helpful. It feels like local customers are being taken advantage of because there are limited alternatives nearby. The only positive was the gentleman working on the postage side, who was polite, helpful and genuinely tried to support customers. He was the one part of the experience that felt professional.

However after the new takeover it looks absolutely awfull and they now sell all kinds of tat, including asian clothes which no one wants to buy and sanitary towels for all to see and laugh at on the post office shelves at eye level. Its cringe making. Useful things such as zipable thick plastic document wallets and good quality folders are gone.
