I had a genuinely awful experience collecting a parcel from this Post Office.
My parcel collection instructions clearly stated that it could be collected up until Sunday 5th July, so I went to collect it on that date. I was then told that they don’t process parcel collections on Sundays but the shop assistant snapped that they would do it today.
Instead of calmly explaining the situation, the shop assistant repeatedly raised his voice at me. He stopped what he was doing several times just to shout his point across the shop, continuously insisting that he wouldn’t process it “today” because it was closed, while speaking to me in an aggressive and intimidating manner.
There was absolutely no need for the way he behaved and the atmosphere became so uncomfortable that his colleague, who was wearing a yellow T-shirt, appeared visibly uncomfortable with how the situation was being handled.
After I left, a man outside the door stopped to ask if I was okay after witnessing what had happened. That alone says a lot about how unacceptable the interaction was.
No customer should be spoken to in this way. If there is a discrepancy between the parcel collection instructions and the shop’s opening procedures, it should be explained politely and professionally—not by shouting at customers. This was one of the worst customer service experiences I have had, and I sincerely hope the staff receive training on how to communicate with people respectfully as I will never return to this post office again!
Given the assistant’s aggressive behaviour, repeated shouting, and the level of distress caused by the incident, I am reporting the matter to the police. The fact that a member of the public felt compelled to check on my welfare afterwards demonstrates how unacceptable and intimidating this behaviour was and this community needs to be protected from this type of behaviour. I worry what would have happened if it escalated
