I rarely leave reviews, but after receiving my driving licence from DVLA today, I felt I needed to share my experience.
I visited this branch to submit a DVLA application for a replacement provisional licence because my licence was lost. I was also updating my address and renewing my photocard details.
The issue started when I was told by a member of staff that I needed to pay £43 for the application. I explained that I believed my application fell under the replacement licence category, which showed a fee of £20. The staff member then consulted a colleague, who also confirmed that I should pay £43 because I was changing more than one thing on the licence.
I disagreed and pointed out that the form itself asks various questions about address changes and other updates. As far as I understood, I was still replacing a lost licence and should therefore fall within the replacement category.
I was then told that if I paid the lower fee, DVLA would likely send my application back. Despite this, I insisted that the application be sent using the £20 fee and that DVLA should make the decision, not the Post Office.
Today I received my licence from DVLA without any issue.
What concerns me is that if I had simply accepted what I was told, I would have paid significantly more money. Not everyone understands DVLA forms or feels confident enough to challenge staff. Customers should be able to trust that they are being given accurate information, especially when it involves government application fees.
This experience left me feeling frustrated and uncomfortable. Looking through other reviews, I can see that I am not the only customer who has left feeling dissatisfied. I would strongly advise people to check the official DVLA fee information themselves before paying for any driving licence application.
I hope management reviews staff training so that customers receive clear and accurate advice in future.

Gets the jobs done BUT they take all your money. Better to go to another post office, they can send your parcel cheaper. This post office: they pretend the price they give you, is the cheapest but it’s not then they give you attitude when you asked them, for the cheapest option. Has happened multiple times & they still want to argue. (Same parcel but always different prices)

Very unprofessional service. I was collecting a parcel not under my name but under the same address. The lady refused to pass me the parcel even if I showed her my ID, the confirmation email, and proof of my address. Royal mail clearly states that you can collect a parcel as long as you can proof you live at the same address.
I’m very annoyed about the unprofessional service I received and clearly this lady needs additional training to familiarise herself with the rules.
