I visit this post office/corner shop very regularly to send parcels, and unfortunately the service from one particular member of staff is consistently unpleasant. He always appears cross and impatient, never offering a simple “hello,” “please,” or “thank you,” despite me being polite on every visit. When dealing with parcels, he speaks in a very abrupt manner, using short commands like “put it down” or “pass it over,” and generally gives the impression that serving customers is a nuisance to him. This isn’t an occasional bad day — there is always some level of rudeness or attitude every time I visit. I usually let it go and don’t make a fuss, but there have been several incidents that really stood out. On one occasion, I went in to collect a parcel and showed my ID. There were around 10–15 parcels in the collection area, yet he barely looked through them before telling me my parcel wasn’t there. I left the shop, noticed a younger staff member had just started his shift and the original man had left, so I went back in and explained the situation again. The younger staff member checked the same pile of parcels and found mine almost immediately. I thanked him and left, but the earlier dismissal was frustrating and unnecessary. My most recent visit was particularly unpleasant. I was sending a letter and buying a newspaper for my grandad. I picked up the newspaper from the stand by the door, realised I had forgotten the letter in my car (parked directly outside), and placed the newspaper back before quickly retrieving the letter. When I returned, the man was standing at the door aggressively putting the newspaper fully back on the stand while huffing. I said that I was buying that newspaper, but he ignored me, huffed again, and walked away. When I went to pay, he didn’t say a single word, just continued sighing and acting irritated. Overall, this post office would benefit greatly from improved customer service. Being abrupt, dismissive, and openly irritated makes what should be a quick and routine visit very uncomfortable. I don’t expect over-the-top friendliness — just basic courtesy and professionalism.
