This Post Office/shop delivers the most unprofessional and hostile customer service I have ever experienced.
The individual running the counter conducts loud personal phone conversations on speakerphone throughout transactions. The phone is placed roughly three feet away at full volume, and he shouts across the counter in response, fully absorbed in the conversation. Although the language is not English, the volume and intensity make the entire exchange unavoidable. Serving customers clearly irritates him, and any interruption results in curt, abrupt, and hostile behaviour.
When I asked why my Amazon return code was not being accepted, I was told angrily, “You are in the wrong Post Office, it’s not this one.” I showed him the address confirming it was the correct location — his Post Office. He simply gestured for me to go away. He does not like customers asking questions, seeking clarification, or interrupting his ongoing phone call.
I stepped outside to speak to Amazon, and during that time he locked up for lunch. I waited forty minutes for reopening, tried again, and he was still on the phone. He refused to focus on his job. I explained Amazon were on the line and needed to speak to him regarding the return code. He refused to engage, refused to listen, and continued his personal conversation. He asked if I had a new code, but didn’t even look at me, the parcel, or the paperwork — just the phone.
This behaviour is not isolated but routine. He does not listen, does not make eye contact, and does not end his calls even when a customer is clearly trying to resolve an issue. His tracking system failed to process the Amazon return, yet instead of assisting, he blamed me, refused to communicate with Amazon (who were actively trying to fix the system error), and displayed open resentment at being asked to perform his role.
When I explained I have a brain injury, he responded with “so.”
This level of disregard for customers — particularly vulnerable customers — is unacceptable for any public-facing role, let alone a Post Office representative.
It took 70 mins from start to finish to get the package processed by him.
He is routinely inattentive, hostile, and openly contemptuous, forcing customers to shout over his personal conversations simply to be served. His attitude suggests he feels untouchable because the area has no alternative Post Office, leaving customers with no choice but to tolerate his behaviour.
The conduct displayed is unprofessional, inappropriate, and incompatible with the responsibilities of a Post Office licence holder. The experience was upsetting, triggering, and deeply disrespectful.
Customers deserve better than being ignored, belittled, dismissed, or banned for pointing out his aggressive behaviour.
