Went into the Ashton-under-Lyme Post Office (inside WHSmith) today for a specific service that’s clearly listed on the website, only to be told they haven’t been able to offer it for months because they “don’t have the tablet.”
When I asked if another branch (Denton) could do it, I was told no—despite the website saying otherwise. When I pointed that out, it was just ignored, and the staff member was quite dismissive and rude.
It’s incredibly frustrating to waste time travelling somewhere based on incorrect information, only to be met with poor customer service and no real apology or willingness to help.
If services like document verification aren’t actually available, the website needs updating. This was a really disappointing experience overall.

Genuinely useless, online it says all the services are available. Walk in and you get told the services you require aren't. Couldn't renew my licence because their tablet is broke, has been for a while - well done, no need to fix it I guess. Couldn't renew my passport because I need to make a booking. Staff said I'm best off going to stalybridge post office because they could do those things straight away. Don't expect much coming to this branch. deserite omnem spem qui hic intratis should be their motto.

**Very poor customer service experience.**
I recently had a very unpleasant experience with the elderly Asian lady working at the counter. Her behaviour was extremely rude and showed a complete lack of basic customer service.
When I approached the counter, there was no greeting, no “hi,” and no question about how she could help.
I had two tasks to complete. The first was to send a letter first class signed for. During this transaction, she simply said “£3.40” with no politeness such as “please” or any other basic courtesy.
When it came to the second task, she abruptly pressed the button to call the next customer before I had finished. I had to stop her and explain that I had another transaction.
The second task involved cashing two vouchers, which required ID. to be presented. Instead of asking politely, she just said “I need ID.” When I asked her to repeat herself, she again responded with “ID.” After I handed her my id, she looked at it and pushed it aside rather than handing it back properly.
She scanned the 1st voucher, and gave me the money without acknowledging how much she was giving. When I presented the 2nd voucher, she scanned it and told me there was no money on it, this caused confusion, as I knew there was money on it. It later became clear that the voucher had already been scanned, but she never communicated this to me.
When I eventually presented the correct voucher, she asked how much it was for, even though the amount was clearly visible on her screen. She also did not count the money out when handing it to me.
I would also like to mention that her colleague, a younger white lady serving at another counter, was noticeably more polite and friendly with the customers she was assisting. She greeted them and interacted in a much more professional and respectful manner. I honestly wish I had been served by her instead.
Overall, the level of rudeness and lack of professionalism was very disappointing. Customer-facing staff should treat customers with basic courtesy and respect. **I hope management looks into this so that other customers do not have a similar experience.**

Went to renew my driving licence and a very rude old Indian lady shouted saying go somewhere else as they can’t help with renewing my licence as the system being down for 7 months, no customer service skills what so ever, can’t believe they have people like that working there. How she’s still working there I don’t know. If I could give zero stars I would.
