Very disappointed if I could put zero starts I would have “Helen Knight” should NOT be allowed to handle peoples letters, parcels and important documents in the post office!! I had a very important letter/document that was sent by Helen and said that it had to be tracked and signed for charged me for it and then find out that it wasn’t tracked the woman doesn’t listen at all it’s not the first time this has happened with her sending letters/parcels especially when they’re very important documents, Helen shouldn’t be allowed to be Handling The post office, I’m very frustrated that my documents are now lost once again this is the third time I’ve had something go missing and it only seems to be when Helen Handles the post!!!

The Basil Fawlty of Biggin Hill in the Post Office.
Rudeness and Lack of Competence.
Went to collect a envelope.
Only two of us in the shop. Myself and John, the older member of staff about whom many have already commented, I now see.
As I entered John was filling a fridge.
I said for him to finish if he wished before serving me.
Without looking he muttered "yeah".
When he came over, he offered no thanks for waiting.
Throughout this encounter I was polite and courteous.
I showed him the delivery Post Office webpage saying our envelope had been delivered the day before and was 'ready for collection'.
I read out the message for confirmation, including the date and the name of the Post Office (The Valley) and the message that said "ready for collection now"
"Big or small?" he asked.
I told him I wasn't sure, but leant across the counter for him to see exhibit two, the delivery postcard. It looked like the 'envelope' box had been ticked. I showed John, but couldn't be sure.
After a minute of rummaging: "it's not here".
I reminded him of the the message: "ready for collection"
John said "they press the button before it's been delivered. Come back later or tomorrow"
I asked where it might be now.
'With BT'
I queried this.
John: 'With BT'
'BT?' I said.
John: Oh no, not BT, the PO, Post Office
the Post Office up the hill.
Me: 'why might it be there. It says it's been delivered to the Valley Post Office'
John: 'Oh yeah. It won't be. '
I tried the Sorting Office (now closes at 10am)
But saw a postman. Who was so helpful.
Remarkably he told me he remembered handling this the day before. 'I gave to one of our postman to deliver to the Valley Post Office. He even told me what it looked like and had a green label.
I returned.
Queued for 15 minutes.
Dealt with, thankfully, by a very helpful and polite lady.
She couldn't find and so asked John.
Who continued in his abrupt manner from earlier:
"I've told him 15 times it's not here!"
I said that I believed it was here.
She asked John if he'd looked in the office.
"Yeah"
He had not. But I chose not call out the lie.
She looked in the cupboards and under the counter.
I repeated what the envelope looked like (white, folded in half, green sticker).
Suddenly John declares 'here it is'. He picked it out from near where he had looked on my first visit and threw it, yes threw it, from the shop counter to the PO counter.
The helpful lady apologised and I thanked her.
I asked John if I would perhaps have an apology.
"No!"
There were some fabulous looks, grimaces and faces from the other customers, who, like me, were surprised at the rudeness.
As I left I thanked the lady again.
I said to John that if he was having a tough time just now, this was easily forgiveable.
Before I finished the sentence I was told 'I don't need your psychology stuff. I'm not listening. I'm not interested'
I finished with, that if he wasn't having a tough then he was unecessarily unhelpful and impolite.
Other customers there that day will attest at my politeness.
One customer, who knew John by name, suggested he was having an off-day.
I've now read the poor reviews on here, and it seems more of a regular day.
John either needs some staff training, a pay rise or perhaps something else that may be missing.
It can't be nice having work days like this.
