I paid for the stamp, and the staff member placed the stamp on the envelope and then handed it back to me, advising me to find a post box to post it myself. I eventually found one at the other end of the high street. I was surprised by this, as the post office has always taken letters directly from me once the postage is paid. I’ve never had to go out and find a post box before, so I’m unsure why this particular staff wasn’t able to post it as they normally do.

They seem to regard a letter as having been delivered if it reaches the sorting office and goes no further. A terrible attitude to customer service and very bad for people who require correspondence urgently.
