I had an absolute nightmare experience today.
I went to exchange some £ to euros.
I was served by a young lad at the beginning ( he seemed fairly new) i Told him i would like to exchange money and asked him how much would i get for £1, he then turned and asked another staff (presuming experience one) who then called me over to another till as i did not have a driving licence).
He did not tell me the exchange rate but asked me how much i wanted to take out to which i replied 150EUR then he said you can get 160 EUR for £153.85 ( it is my first time exchanging currency) to which i agreed not realising my brain had not clicked then.
I took 160 eur and left as i had my daughter’s appointment immediately after but later when i sat down looking at my receipt i realised the rate was extremely low £1 = 1.04 EUR so i went back and told him that i would like him to take it back to which he said he is unable to do so as the system does not allow it but he can BUY it back but the rate would be even lower.
I am not mad about the system and how things are run at the post office, the guy serving me was not transparent about the currency rate.
He even said the exchange rate displayed outside was only for exchanges over £1000
I am really not happy as i looked online the exchange rate was around 1.14 to 1.15
I felt like i was robbed in a broad day light.
I have been going to this post office for 9 years +
I am not going back again
If you are exchanging currencies make sure you ASK until you are told what their current exchange rate is.
