Go online to book a collection, price doubled at the counter and the staff behaviour was the poorest I have ever seen. 1. I recently sent a 1.678 kg Small Parcel using Royal Mail International Tracked and was charged £36.90 at Bromley Post Office. I subsequently discovered that Royal Mail offers International Tracked online for the same type of parcel to China for approximately £18. The difference is particularly difficult to understand given my experience at the branch. Rather than receiving a level of service that might justify such a substantial premium, I experienced poor customer service, unnecessary delays and inconsistent information about Royal Mail requirements. 2. On my first visit in April 2026, a female member of staff repeatedly rushed and complained while I was filling in forms she had just given me. She was complaining all the way despite she could refuse to serve me in the first place. 2. On my second visit in July 2026, the same staff member insisted that customs forms had to be completed at home before coming to the Post Office, which does not appear to be a mandatory requirement on Royal Mail website. 3. Today, a male member of staff insisted that I rewrite a Chinese address fully in English, despite Royal Mail’s own guidance stating that addresses to China may be written in Chinese/Mandarin, with “CHINA” in English on the last line. My writing conforms to the website requirement. His wrong conduct caused unnecessary delays as he was the only staff member on the day. I also felt heatstroke in the suffocated environment as a pregnant person. The repeated poor attitude, unnecessary delays and inconsistent information have made using this branch very frustrating. I have made two complaints to Royal Mail. Since collection is half price of being poorly served at the counter, I suggest everyone booking a collection at home

I had to wait 45 minutes just to get to the very front and then I see the the worker counting money for the next 15 minutes

I visited this branch on Monday 30th June to send an envelope containing three passports for a visa application — a time-sensitive and irreplaceable set of documents. The staff member selected First Class Signed For without asking what I was sending or explaining that more appropriate services exist, such as Tracked 24, Tracked 48, or Special Delivery Guaranteed. I only discovered these options existed after researching online following two days of anxiety waiting for delivery with no tracking visibility. First Class Signed For provides no intermediate scanning, is lower priority than tracked services according to Royal Mail employees, and is not reliably next day despite the name suggesting otherwise. For passports and important documents, Special Delivery Guaranteed would have been the appropriate recommendation. I raised this with the branch manager who confirmed staff are trained, however if training was effective this situation would not have occurred. A simple question — “what are you sending?” — at the counter would have prevented significant distress. I would strongly recommend this branch trains staff to ask customers about the contents and urgency of their items before defaulting to standard services.

Saturday morning 9.40 am, 23 people in the queue, only to desks open, one with a 146 year old lady who served three customers in the last 15 minutes, the other one with a man who’s so slow it made me wonder whether he was having a stroke and I needed to call an ambulance… obviously both rude beyond belief, like everytime I’ve been here… I meant it’s 2026, is there even a need to have post offices anymore? Can’t we get things done at automatic checkouts (like the three they have here but they’re constantly closed)?
