Charged £1 per page for printing (10 pages = £10). Extremely overpriced for a standard post office service. The counter staff processed it without comment. Avoid if you need printing — check prices elsewhere first.

1. Unauthorised Use of My Name (Data Protection Concern)
After leaving a factual Google review about the service, a member of staff responded publicly from what appears to be a personal account and used my name without my consent. My review was about the service provided by the Post Office as a business—not about any individual staff member. Publishing my name in a public response is inappropriate and raises concerns under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Any responses should be made officially by the Post Office, not by individuals using personal accounts.
2. Incorrect Postal Advice: My wife visited the branch to return an expired passport and clearly requested Second Class Signed For delivery. This request was appropriate and compliant with HM Passport Office guidance, which states that “Signed For” delivery may be used. There is no requirement for First Class, Next Day, or Guaranteed services.
Despite this, she was advised that Second Class was not suitable and was directed toward a significantly more expensive guaranteed service. A suitable, lower-cost option was available but not properly offered.
3. Customer Care and Follow-Up: When I later contacted the branch to clarify the advice given, my concerns were not properly addressed and the call was passed between staff. I was simply told to contact Royal Mail, with no attempt to resolve the issue at branch level.
4. After Leaving My Review: Following my review:
• Several positive reviews appeared suddenly
• My original review was later removed
• A staff member responded personally and used my name
This gives the impression that criticism is being managed defensively rather than transparently.
5. Clarification on “Best Option” Claims: Stating that a more expensive service was the “best option” is not accurate when a compliant, lower-cost option exists. Customers should receive impartial advice and be allowed to choose freely without pressure.
What I Am Asking For
• Removal of my name from any public responses
• Official (not personal) responses from the Post Office
• Staff adherence to correct guidance and procedures
• Transparent and professional handling of customer feedback
This review is not about star ratings—it is about trust, fairness, and accountability. Customers have the right to accurate advice and to leave honest feedback without being personally targeted.

Outcome With Royal Mail
Following the advice provided, I contacted Royal Mail customer services.
I would like to acknowledge that Royal Mail's customer service and senior management handled the matter professionally. An internal investigation was conducted, and they agreed with my explanation of events.
I did raise this matter with Royal Mail. My intention was solely to clarify the matter, as the advice given at the Post Office was misguided from the outset.
Royal Mail accepted my concern, and the matter was resolved. I thank Royal Mail customer service and senior staff for their professionalism.

Another Google review claimed the reviewer “witnessed the entire situation.”
I respectfully state:
• No witness was requested or required
• A third party cannot position itself as a judge
• This matter concerns process, transparency, and correct advice, not blame.
Whether a service was confirmed multiple times is irrelevant if the service offered was not required in the first place.
While the reviewer states they were a witness, it is important to note that service decisions are made strictly between the customer and the staff member, based on official procedures and guidelines. Third parties cannot act as witnesses or determine the appropriateness of services provided. This is not a matter of blame, but of transparency and adherence to established procedures.
The reviewer also mentions having used this post office for over three years with positive experiences. If that is the case, it is reasonable to ask why no positive feedback was shared during that time. This raises a valid question regarding the intent and timing of the review.

I have read the comment below which is about charging and insisting about first class delivery to the customer which is not at all true. Because I witnessed the whole scenario over there. The staff was very friendly and I’ve been coming to this post office since 3 years and this never happened to me . I was right there when this happened the staff asked the customer and after the lady confirmed then only the staff proceeded. It’s not fair to just blame them I’ve witnessed the situation they staff has asked her 2-3 times if she is okay with the service and then proceeded as i witnessed
