Two days in a row I have gone to collect my parcel only to be told I cannot collect due to a lack of staff.
Not entirely sure what to do now.

I had a parcel to post to France and knew that it wouldn't be accepted unless I paid the delivery duties in advance. I went to the main post office in Portsmouth but they didn't know how it was possible to do that so I went back to my local post office on Elm Grove. The young assistant was very helpful and knowledgeable but also consulted a colleague to be sure the procedure was correct. I was able to pay the delivery duties in addition to the other charges and was convinced that everything was in order. In future I will rely more on my local post office than the central one.

I strongly advise people NOT to use this Post Office branch.
I trusted the staff at this branch with a high value engagement ring, and due to their negligence and lack of basic professionalism, my ring is now lost in the postal system.
The staff member did not weigh the parcel, did not ask about the value or contents, did not explain or offer insured or high value postal services, and did not advise me that a specific service was required for valuable items. Despite my request to write the address myself, he insisted on writing it and showed clear uncertainty, repeatedly asking to see the address again before entering it incorrectly.
As a direct result of this careless handling and failure to follow basic procedures, my engagement ring, an item of huge emotional and financial value, has been lost. The stress and distress this has caused is unimaginable.
The people working here completely neglected my requests and showed no sense of responsibility or care. This branch should not be trusted with anything important or valuable.

Chris was extremely passive aggressive and dismissive. I had been waiting there for 5 minutes and he was counting cash in front of me, moving boxes around doing anything else instead of serving me as the only trained post office worker on the floor. It was truly as if I was invisible. It was only when others joined the queue behind me that someone else came to greet me.
It would be different if it was a busy day, it seemed to me that he was intentionally ignoring me.
