  So happy we still have a Post Office in Bexhill. I really appreciate being able to go in and draw out cash in small denominations. Staff are really helpful and friendly.

  To cut this woeful tale as short as possible,… you go to a Post Office and the counter staff for their service, not failure, nor for excruciating officialdom and failure and an utter lack of interest in you the customer. And if you did experience that you would expect them to put it right with a smile, not put the responsibility on you the customer who trusted them to .. well just do their job. No decent company operates like this. I know I work for an exceptional company and sell over a quarter of a million pounds worth of goods to customers every month, personally. Otherwise you might as well do it all yourself, why else have a counter and staff? To cut to the chase they forgot to put a customs declaration on 3 parcels to Germany. 2 have already returned and I am expecting the third anytime soon. With the first one I returned to visit the Post Office and was happy that they just relabelled it and sent it again, with the declaration on it. Sadly on the second occasion instead of a helpful and apologetic attitude I was met with teenage managerial officialdom who refused to acknowledge fault, telling me that they had likely put the custom’s declaration on, but it had probably fallen off!!! And that I would have to waste my time putting a claim in. I suggested that if indeed they were right then their adhesive sticky labels were at fault, not me and they should just rectify it. Then they said sometimes it registers customs declarations electronically, but seemed confused as to exactly what they were ‘meant’ to do. When they passed me the customers declaration label to sign I realised they had never previously done this and told them so, they didn’t care. I suggested sticking it on with superglue ‘less it fall off’, in the end they wrapped the entire parcel in Sellotape. And I hope it doesn’t ‘Fall Off’. They refused to take that on board instead pointing me in the direction of the highly detailed, and frankly purposefully long winded form I believe designed to see you abandon filling out something that will cost me £25 in time to fill out for £10.35 of postage back. Oh and by the way when I had to resend my parcel I had to do so at a higher price, prices had risen since the first aborted attempt!! It then cost me £12.80 and I somehow doubt that they will see the logic in paying me the £12.80 as a refund because that’s what it cost me to resend it after it was delayed by their inability.! Now you may think my experience is an isolated event, but no, as I stood there remonstrating with the teller and the ‘Manager’ another customer came over and told me of having had EXACTLY the same experience, where they had not put Customs declarations on a parcel to the USA and this had cost the lady’s daughter £40 more pounds. They had applied for recompense but had been refused it!!!
