I was then told it couldn’t be done because they close at 1pm and that “this is not the time to come for a driving licence renewal.” I was surprised, as the Post Office was clearly still open and this is a service that’s advertised as being offered. I explained that I’d struggled to get there during the week due to work and asked if it might be possible to do it anyway. The staff member briefly checked with their manager (a quick “driving licence?” across the counter), then told me no and that I’d need to come back on Monday. What was disappointing wasn’t the policy itself, but the lack of flexibility or customer care. Choosing not to spend a minute or two helping meant a 30-minute round trip for me — twice. A little empathy or willingness to help would have made a big difference. Policies matter, of course, but so does compassion and professional pride. Sadly, neither was evident on this visit.

They all try their best and deserve a bit better than the current score. Much needed in the community and people would moan without them. Never had a problem be it posting something to arranging travel money.
