I don't post many reviews unless the service is exceptionally good or exceptionally bad. Unfortunately here it's the latter. Every time I go in, it feels like the mere presence of customers is inconvenient. They are all belittled, patronised and made to feel stupid. The most recent visit involved me attempting to send some documents relating to the passing of my father via second class tracked. I picked up an envelope and went to the counter. The lady behind the counter, I have to say, was lovely. She suggested the documents might not fit but it was A5 and there were only about 8 sheets of paper. Before I could answer the man who I assume runs the place and was sitting on a sack of letters with his arms folded looking hard at work shouts, "you can't send them in that." Dead silence, no suggestion of what to do next. Ok I say, why? "You need A4 for second class." Again dead silence and a slight smirk. "Ok, how come? "If you send it in A5 it has to go special delivery." Silence again. "Ok, what's the difference in price." Cheshire cat grin - "a lot." Like, fine he's giving me the information but it's just such a condescending power trip. He's feeding it to me in dribs and drabs so I have to prize it out of him. Please sir, please oh fountain of all post knowledge, won't you impart your wisdom to me. So I go grab the right envelope and turn to the very nice lady and say, every time I come in here the service is always so poor. It's true, it is. She says, he's giving you the right info and I reply yes, he is but there's a tone and a way of communicating with people that's either helpful or not and this is not. Then after I finish and he's taken my money and served someone else he then comes back to me, voice raised. How is it bad service. I've just saved you £7. It's £10 to send special. This goes on. I can't get a word in. I ask if he'd like me to explain why it's bad service. He says no and carries on his rant about how he's saved me money and done me a favour. He absolutely hasn't done me a favour, or saved me any money, I didn't ask for special delivery and at no point would I have bought that service. He's corrected me on something I had no idea about in the first place but in a rude, arrogant and now aggressive manner. A message to you, pal. Not everybody knows about the nuances of the over complicated royal mail delivery service. It always feels like the prices are made up on the spot and there are a million different ways to send, which I always find don't make a blind bit of difference. So if a customer isn't intimate with these useless nuances, try calmly and patiently helping them out, instead of patronising them and being a cocky idiot. This also applies to the older lady that works there and the young guy with long hair. Having said all that, the lady that served me was patient, kind and understanding, so thank you.

The only reason to use this branch is if you have no other alternative. Miserable and rude service. The sooner it changes hands the better.

The rudest post office employees I’ve ever known. I’ve witnessed them berate pensioners for not putting their PIN numbers in fast enough and every experience appears painful, as if they are looking to be difficult on purpose with every human interaction. A great advert for using courier services.
