Very poor staff! Awfully spoken to by the man working in exchange window who wears glasses with receding hairline. Also payed for special delivery and it’s been a week now and heard nothing of delivery or documents received to destination…

I had a very disappointing experience at the Darlington Post Office in Cornmill Shopping Centre yesterday.
I accompanied a friend who needed to complete a DBS identity verification. He had all the required documents and there was no indication in his letter that an appointment was necessary. However, the staff member at the counter immediately and bluntly told him he needed to book an appointment, without offering any explanation or assistance.
My friend, who is autistic, calmly tried to explain that he needed a bit more time to process the information and that the instructions he received did not mention an appointment. Instead of showing any understanding or patience, the staff member repeatedly dismissed him and refused to help.
The situation escalated unnecessarily. During this interaction, she went into a back room, and shortly afterwards shopping centre security arrived. We were then told that she would not serve us and were effectively asked to leave.
Customer service should include basic empathy, clear communication, and a willingness to assist, none of which were demonstrated here. Based on this experience, I am very concerned about how vulnerable customers are treated at this branch.
I hope management takes this feedback seriously and reviews both staff training and customer service standards at this location.

Tremendously rude manager. I walked over to a kiosk started explaining to this woman what i wanted and without warning a guy in his 30s walks over and talks over me!! Had to bite my tongue several times, he didnt excuse himself, didnt say sorry just made his demand more important than mine. I was ready to shout the branch down but my mother was in the shop at the time so didnt bother. Also the woman i was speaking to was explaining what was likely easy to her but as i don't work in banking, i wouldnt know. Ever heard of laymans terms? Its like a doctor arrogantly explaining what issues are and getting all snooty if you don't grasp first time what is being said. I wouldnt treat someone like that if they come into my place but she saw fit to belittle me in my request.

I visited this post office to deposit money into my card, but the staff member at the counter was very rude and unhelpful. As a customer, I expect basic courtesy and clear communication. Unfortunately, this experience was disappointing.
