I have driven past the post office for decades, I went to Callington Post office that had a queue out of the door. I was on my way to Launceston so I thought I would try this little place at Kelly Bray. Easy to park near by.
From the outside, it looks rundown.
Inside was like stepping back in time. Small little shop, cobwebs, dust, damp and does not look like it has been cleaned in 20 years. (I am not exaggerating, I am sure it hasn't), there are cobwebs hanging off the faded birthday cards. But black cobwebs that themselves are dust covered.
Behind the dirty glass is a nice gentleman, very friendly and helpful I watched how he helped the lady in front of me, very patient with her, giving her the best advice for her package.
No electric scales, the old fashion type, from the 1960's.
When he served me, he fixed the label and stapled a receipt to my paperwork for me, he could not have been more helpful.
It's been years since I have experienced real good community customer service like this at a post office. He wished me a pleasant day and told me to be careful crossing the road as some cars drive too fast.
In conclusion, I got more than I wanted. I don't know his life story or background or why is shop is left uncleaned and exactly as it was set up decades ago, including his stock of greeting cards.
I won't judge him, there could be a story behind it. He is working, and providing a great service.
What you get here is, a great friendly and helpful service from a nice gentleman. No shinny 'Made In China' tacky items for sale or even a place where a feather duster and Windex has shown up.
What I got was what I wanted, good service, and I did not have to wait 30 minutes in Callington. I will be back when I am passing and I wish the Gentleman the best of health.
If you need to post a package, pop in an out, this is the place to go.

Usually fast friendly service here, it's a typical old post office, you go in, do what you need to do and that's it. The place could do with modernisation, counters and sales items look like they are out of the 80s, but, it's a post office and, does everything I need it to do

Always very helpful and polite. Although the place is a little tired, it has an old fashioned charm about it.
