I walked into the Tower Road Post Office holding my tiny puppy in my arms, not on the floor, not running around — in my arms. The shop was completely empty, not a single customer inside. A lovely lady came to the till, and when I said I’d like to send my parcel, she was perfectly fine and ready to help.
And then Betsy appeared.
What happened next was something I will genuinely never forget.
The moment she saw my puppy — again, held securely in my arms — she marched over and declared, with a cold, rehearsed tone, that dogs are not allowed in the store. I calmly explained that I was holding her, that she wasn’t touching the floor, wasn’t disturbing anyone, wasn’t causing any issue whatsoever. But Betsy didn’t care. She kept repeating the same line like a robot, refusing to listen, refusing to acknowledge the situation, refusing to show even a shred of humanity.
She even forbade the other lady from scanning my code — stopping her mid‑action — simply because my puppy was in my arms. The authority she tried to project was unbelievable. Hands behind her back, chin lifted, smirk on her face… as if she was my boss, not a customer service worker in an empty post office.
I asked politely, “It’s only this time, can I just send this please?”
But she kept repeating the same sentence: “Dogs are not allowed.”
No compassion. No flexibility. No common sense.
She insisted I leave my puppy outside — a puppy who immediately ran back to me when I tried. Still, she refused to let me send my parcel until my puppy was physically outside the building. Her behaviour was not just strict; it was hostile, unnecessary, and deeply unprofessional.
The worst part?
That smirk.
That look of satisfaction, as if she enjoyed denying me service.
I left shocked by how horrible she acted. Someone who treats customers like that — especially in a harmless situation with no other people around — should never be in a customer‑facing role. Her attitude was cold, dismissive, and completely devoid of empathy. She showed no willingness to help, no understanding, and absolutely no respect.
This experience was unacceptable, and I will never forget how she made me feel.
