  I’ve always found the staff here lovely, friendly and genuinely doing their best, so some of the recent 1-star reviews made me laugh a little 😂 Yes, occasionally the Post Office has had to close because of staff shortages. It’s inconvenient, absolutely, but I’m fairly sure the people behind the counter haven’t done it personally just to ruin Karen’s afternoon. I’ve even seen people complaining that they closed for lunch while clearly running with just one member of staff. Surely the massive queues were a bit of a clue that they were short staffed, yet they still chose to open and provide a service to the community rather than just shutting completely. God forbid the one person working is allowed to take a break, eat some food, have a drink and generally avoid collapsing behind the counter just so Karen can post her parcel at exactly the moment she chooses 😂 The team that are there are helpful, polite and deserve a bit of understanding rather than getting hammered with 1-star reviews because they physically don’t have enough people to stay open all the time. And if the staff shortage is really causing you that much distress, good news Karen, you can always apply for a job and help them out 😂 5 stars from me, keep doing what you’re doing. I think most normal people appreciate the effort.

  The staff in Handforth Post Office in Spar, are the best I’ve ever come across in the Post Office system. They are warm, friendly, competent and go above and beyond to hep. Nothing is too much trouble for them. They also take a genuine interest in ALL their customers and make the effort to remember people’s names and ask after them. Their hard work is plain for all to see and the immeasurable ‘human’ interaction they also provide, should be valued and protected at all costs. They are irreplaceable and of great value to our community.

  A true hub of the community! This small but incredibly busy Post Office is run by the loveliest ladies who always go above and beyond. They’re friendly, welcoming and somehow manage to know so many customers by name, making everyone feel valued. The huge effort they put into Christmas, Easter, Halloween and other celebrations is amazing. It’s so much more than a Post Office — it’s a warm, welcoming part of the community. They’re a real credit to the Handforth village! Thank you ladies x

  Unfortunately this week the post office was closed due to short staff and its such a shame to see this as i know a-lot of elderly use this to get their money each week to pay bills and do shopping also more younger ones are using it for parcel delivery or collection. This is so upsetting to see as the ladies work endlessly and with a smile on their faces doing their best. Each time i have used the post office i have a a good experience and always beed spoken too politely

  Closes at random times on a regular basis. Its pot luck whether the counter is actually open or not when you arrive within their advertised opening hours. Numerous times I have visited only to find a hand written sign that the counter is closed. This is extremely inconvenient for those of us working full time who may have a limited opportunity to visit the post office and can't rely on it being open within the designated opening hours. In this case, I now don't have a birthday gift for later in the week as I cannot go back another day due to in office work requirements. Thanks a lot Post Office.
