30 minutes to get to the post office and 30 minutes back home. Stood in line for another 30 minutes to pick up a package that the postman was too lazy to bring to the door at my house only to have the guy at the counter tell me that package pick up is at a separate door. When I received the package, there was absolutely zero reason why it needed to be picked up at the post office. If this is the way USPS is run, let's just abolish it altogether.

Must be the worst post office in the country. I had a package not delivered that stated an attempt to deliver failed due to animal interference and it was 11:42PM. One, why were they trying to deliver to a complex at 11:42PM and two, I don't have an animal, so that was a lie. I went to the post office to retrieve the package and they apparently can't find it. Now, I'm out the money I spent of the item plus the $10 to ship it.

Completely broken operation. Packages routinely disappear or are forwarded without cause or explanation. Service requests are closed without resolution. There is no postmaster on site and no manager willing to speak with customers. The office is dirty and disorganized. On critical days like Christmas Eve, mail wasn’t delivered at all. Most disturbing: employees have openly told customers that carriers steal mail and face no consequences. USPS once stood for efficiency and reliability but this location is actively destroying that reputation. It's a 0 star embarrassment to the people of Decatur that seems to operate without any consequence. Absolute trash.

I want to like USPS; this place make it hard. I've had nothing but problems with my mail at this office that is the "Main Post Office" for zip code 30033 over the last 6 months. I live in an apartment complex with boxes for each resident. I've had two small packages sent to my apartment that never arrived. With the tracking numbers I can see that the packages were out for delivery. The USPS tracking system online says they could not be delivered because there the "No access to delivery location". It's an apartment complex not a Top Secret corporate office! How is there no entry? Don't you delivery mail here everyday? And you can't get it? Nevertheless, it says no action is required and the package will be delivered the next day--but no such luck as delivery is never again attempted as seen in the online tracking system. At my apartment complex, the carrier never puts packages into the larger holding boxes and then puts the key to open them in your individual mailbox as I've seen done in every other apartment complex I've lived in. After the packages never showed, I went in-person to this PO to find out why my packages don't arrive, the counter agent looks at the tracking numbers and says the packages are out with the carrier and will be delivered that day. Never arrived. The next day, I go back and the counter staff person disappears in the back and comes back after many minutes and says the package isn't in the post office. He takes my phone number and says they will check and let me know. Never received a call. All this has happened twice. Sadly it's the same even with letters. I get an email message "USPS Informed Delivery" letting me know what letters and packages I will receive--I can see the scanned image of the letters--buy they often never arrive. I've had mail with my exactly correct address returned to the sender. The sender then calls me to confirm my mailing address, but it's exactly as printed on the letter that was returned. No idea why this post office is such a disaster. They don't even come to deliver mail to my apartment complex every day. I recognize USPS is much maligned, but they don't win much sympathy when this office is so incompetent. If you can't up your game to a even a minimum level of performance you don't deserve public support. This place deserves 0 stars, but Google won't let you put that.
