I just moved here to the area from out of state and this is my local post office which is 5 minutes from my house. Not a very friendly location at all. The neighborhood itself is so welcoming but the staff at this post Office is not. Or the one individual work here is not. I call the 1 800 number and they informed me to visit this locate to fix my problem. She did not care that I had a problem and when I asked her another question she responded I told you once before "I can't help you here. Obviously I didn't hear you. And now I need to drive 10 mins to another location and I help they can help.

I waited until to see if all my packages and letters reached their destinations from inside Georgia to Indiana and to California. Sent 9 packages/letters and all of them arrived safely. When looking at post offices in the Atlanta area, I was shocked at how low the ratings were for other locations. Friends recommended I make the trip out to Avondale and I even took the Marta before walking. So glad I did. Service was friendly, courteous, and efficient. I apologized to both the lady who helped me and the other clients as I had so many things to send. They were all kind and understanding. Thanks so much USPS Avondale Estates!

This place has gone downhill *considerably* in a number of ways. They started closing the lobby at 5:30 pm sometime in the middle of last year, which is a huge inconvenience if you don't get off work til 5 pm (or later) and have to travel across town. Recently, I left work early just so I could make it by 5:30 to check my PO box. I am not able to check it regularly anymore since they started closing the lobby. I have to make changes to my schedule just to get there before 5:30 so I can barely make it to get my mail. On this particular day, I arrived at 5:26 and the door was locked. There was an attendant inside who refused to open the door, visibly shaking her head no at me. All I wanted to do was check my PO box and I arrived before their posted closing time. I tried to reason with her through the glass telling her, "It's not 5:30 pm yet and I just need to get my mail." She walked away and would not acknowledge me further. It was incredibly frustrating. Important documents and packages are seemingly held hostage because they close the lobby at a terrible hour when most people would need it, and then lock their doors early and refuse to let patrons in to get their own mail. Additionally, I've had packages be placed in my PO box months late. An example is: A package of mine arrived at the post office in March but it was never placed in my box. When I asked about it, attendants told me they didn't know where it was & that it was still likely at the distribution center. Months later, in mid-July, the package suddenly appears in my box with the original March delivery confirmation written across the top. The package had been sitting idle in the post office for months. Other mail documents of mine simply never arrived. Despite seeing the images on my Informed Delivery account of incoming mail, those pieces never arrived and when I have asked about them, I have been told by attendants that they don't know where my mail is, often saying that it's still at the distribution center. It has felt to me like an easy excuse to give instead of making the effort to search the facility to locate missing mail. When I first started using this post office, things seemed to run really well. But that has not been my experience in the last 12+ months. It's been one frustration after another. I am not sure what changed, but it has definitely declined.

I miss the old crew that retired in this location! today I went to send a few packages to Puerto Rico, and the lady that was working there was not only rude but not knowledgeable of her job,and could not find the address. I have never had a problem before, I’ve been sending packages to my family, using the one and only address they have. Never encountered any problems with the old staff that retired. This lady, has zero customer service, and no desire on going maybe the extra mile to figure out an address outside the mainland US,(although PR is a colony of the U.S., which I doubt she knew)In the end, I got my packages back, because she kept asking me if I wanted to proceed, which I have never had anyone asking me that. I don’t know if she thought I did not speak English. I might have an accent, but I speak four languages. I’m pretty sure more than she does. I took my packages to the post office in Scottdale and had cero problems there. The gentleman was cordial, professional and knowledgeable there, and sent the packages without a problem.
