Only self service was open. The desk was completely shut down at 10:30am on a Wednesday with no notice/note about a closure.

I have Informed Delivery and saw that an important document was marked as “delivered” to my house, despite not receiving it. This has happened before with other carriers because my address is similar to a nearby one, so I suspected it was a misdelivery. Before stopping by the other address, I thought I’d visit my local PO to confirm. (They can look up GPS coordinates for deliveries.) I walk in and the two employees are chatting behind the metal screen. Several customers are standing around confused, so I ask the workers through the screen if they’re closed. They say no, and that they’ll be out in a moment. 5 minutes later, they come out, and I, trying to be kind, ask if I interrupted their lunch break. They say “No — we’re open now though, and that’s what matters.” OK. I proceed to explain the situation, and they are ADAMANT that the delivery issue stemmed from a sender error. I ask how that could be the case if I have Informed Delivery and can see the tracking info, and they say they don’t know. I ask them to check the GPS coordinates, and they use a Google tool and repeat that it was a sender error. I request that they use their internal GPS tool, and after huffing and puffing, they finally do. And what do they discover? That the package was, indeed, delivered to the wrong address. I express concern over this, as again, it’s an important document, and they stare at me stoically, unphased. After leaving, I manage to connect with the other address and get the package. It’s 2026, and USPS is underfunded. I get that, and I also get that their jobs suck, so I can put up with some level of hostility from USPS workers. But when the agency fails at their one job — to carry mail from point A to point B — and the workers are unwilling to offer solutions AND take zero accountability for their screw up, that’s when I have a problem. Moral of the story: track your packages, and know that you might need to get pushy with the people who work here.
