While I’ve occasionally experienced missing mail or opened cards in the past, what happened recently was far more serious. I run both an Etsy and eBay store and have dropped off thousands of packages at this location. In late September, I shipped an expensive eBay item to Sarasota, FL and placed it in the indoor drop box. I did not get it scanned, something I’ve done many times before without issue. Two weeks later, the buyer reported it never arrived. On October 6, I went to the post office and spoke with Kristal, an employee I’ve known professionally for years. I gave her the tracking number. She went into the back and returned in under a minute, immediately stating that I never dropped off the package, repeatedly insisting I must have left it in my car or forgotten, despite my clear memory of dropping it off. No investigation was offered. Two weeks later, Kristal called me directly saying I had a package at the post office, which felt highly unusual and unprofessional. Because of how I had been treated, I sent my father to retrieve it. Krystal again told him that I had left the package in my car, even though a month had passed since the original drop-off. The package turned out to be the missing shipment, returned from Michigan and dated October 6, the same day I originally came in to report it missing. The most concerning detail: all of my eBay packages use my current SW Vero Beach home address as the return address. This returned package instead listed my Wabasso P.O. Box, which is used only on my Etsy account. There is no way the buyer or eBay would have that address. The information could only have come from inside USPS. Given that Kristal handled every interaction involving this package, this situation raises serious concerns about package handling and internal accountability at this location. I no longer feel confident shipping valuable items here.
