I’ve generally had no major issues with this post office, but my recent experience renewing my PO Box was frustrating due to poor communication, lack of transparency, and overall customer service. My PO Box rental is normally about $54–$55 for three months. I let the renewal lapse briefly, but I called during the week to let a representative know I could come in and pay on Monday the 16th. Unfortunately, that was a holiday and the office was closed. When I came in afterward to renew, I was told I could no longer pay for just three months and instead had to pay for six months or a full year, along with additional charges. The clerk quoted me $226 for a 6 month renewal, but could not clearly explain why it was higher than the posted online rates ($188 for 12 months). I ended up having to leave and call back to speak with someone else, and only then was I informed there was a $27 late fee and an $11 lock change fee. These extra charges were not explained upfront, either during my earlier call or at the counter. When I called back, I was also told they deal with a lot of seasonal residents “up north” who come and go, but that didn’t really address the issue or help clarify the charges. What makes this even more confusing is that I can go online and reserve a brand-new PO Box for $55 for three months and simply do a change of address, which would actually cost less. The way the renewal and added fees were handled just doesn’t make much sense. To make matters worse, the clerk handed me mail from another customer’s PO Box, which included sensitive financial documents like mortgage and bank statements. I had to point it out and return it, which raises serious concerns about privacy and attention to detail. I also want to add that my previous PO Box in another city was something I kept for over 12 years, and that office had more of a hometown feel, personality, and clearer customer service. This location feels much more impersonal by comparison. Overall, the issue isn’t the fees themselves — it’s the lack of transparency, communication, and basic customer care. Customers should be clearly informed about late fees and lock change charges before being asked to pay. The attitude felt very “take it or leave it,” which was disappointing.

Thank you for the wonderful service, Jose Rivera. My package was scanned incorrectly at a different location. I was upset when my package number said delivered but was no where to be found. Jose answered my questions and answered my emails every day. My package arrived and I had to say thank you for your patience and understanding.

Not much to say really. It's ok.
