  It is Friday and not a holiday. I arrived 20 minutes early expecting this location would open at 9AM as advertised. It is now 9:20AM and there is still no signs that this location is opening. A few minutes late, I could have over looked it. I am about to head over to another location with a 2.4 rating bc they are at the very least punctual. Not to mention I have to drive 20 more minutes than needed.

  Rating: ★★☆☆☆ I visited the new DHL location at 1706 Southside Boulevard last Saturday to ship a simple envelope to Brazil — an A4 sheet, a tiny fabric sample, and a hair strand for an academic quantum-physics project. I declared everything in good faith as “documents.” The team at the counter was polite, patient, and genuinely kind. I left the store happy and ready to become a frequent customer. However, later that day I received a call saying the X-ray flagged a microscopic copper flake I had taped to the paper for my research. After I fully explained the purpose, DHL initially suggested reclassifying the shipment as a “package” for the same price — which I agreed to — but then reversed the decision and refused to ship it, citing “biological material.” A single strand of hair. This experience raised two concerns: Training: The team is kind, but they need clearer guidance and criteria for handling harmless academic items. They are scaring customers!! Proportionality: DHL is a logistics provider, not a government authority. Customers should not feel treated as suspicious when acting transparently and ethically. I genuinely want to use DHL many more times — the store has great potential, and Jacksonville needs strong, well-trained international carriers. I hope this feedback helps elevate the service to the standard that the DHL brand is known for.
