The quality was great and the service at the counter was friendly and efficient. However, instead of checking me out at the print counter, where there was no line and the associate could clearly see the front-end line building, I was directed to the main register. That line already had about 8 to 10 customers and was also handling Amazon returns. What should have been a quick checkout turned into a 15 to 20 minute wait. By the time I reached the register, there were another dozen people behind me. The only register open at the front end was being run by one associate who was clearly overwhelmed and overworked. Several managers walked by, observed the situation, and appeared to treat it as simply the way things are. After leaving the store, I called to speak with a manager and was told essentially the same thing. This is what Staples wants, and their hands are tied. I understand that Amazon returns drive foot traffic, but this approach risks frustrating paying customers and burning out employees. Allowing print associates to complete checkout, or opening additional registers during peak times, would significantly improve both the customer and employee experience
