The postman at the counter in Weatogue CT is probably the most condescending person I have met. My wife told me prior to me going to the post office that she heard him speaking very rudely with a customer, but she didn’t know what the nature of the problem. I went there with fragile computer disks that I was sending to a medical provider. When it came to the fragile question I accidentally checked the wrong button. I asked the Postman if we could go back and fix the problem. The Postman started with ‘why do you want to go back’. I explained to him that I checked the wrong box as he verbalized that I checked the wrong box. The Postman then repeated himself multiple times ‘why do you want to go back?’ in a rude and condescending manner. I was unaware that he fixed the problem prior to me asking if I could fix the problem. He continued to repeat the same phrase ‘why do you want to go back’. These were my wive’s medial records and I didn’t want to screw this up. I realized at this point he was being a wise guy (I don’t want this review to be censored…so I’ll use the term ‘wise guy’). He could tell I was upset so he would not tell me he fixed the fragile problem a long time ago. He kept on saying ‘why do you want to go back’. I felt helpless in solving this problem so I asked him if I could complete the transaction. The Postman now started to say ‘Oh, now you’re in a rush…are you in a rush?’ He then repeated it again in a snarky tone ‘are you in a rush?. Then he said at least twice ‘people like me’. So, during the conversation it only dawned on me what my wife was telling me about his condensing tone of voice. I felt helpless and I knew I had no power in the conversation. He holds all the power given he now controls my mail. He finally told me later that he fixed the fragile question when I checked the wrong box. He enjoyed harassing me as it was a power trip for him. Currently, I’ve been told he’s under investigation for his behavior. I encourage everyone to let his supervisors know of any rude behavior. If you have any problems with this Postman it’s easy to file a complaint with the Post Office.
