By far the worst customer experience I’ve ever had walking into a retail store. Regardless if you are overwhelmed by the TSA appointments and walk ins (even though you aren’t the employee working that area), you should always be welcoming to customers. Appointments aren’t mandatory for TSA and you really have no right stating “we will turn you away”. It’s the customers decision whether or not they choose to wait in line and you can’t predict whether or not people will show up for their scheduled appointment slots. The manager and front customer service employee were so unwelcoming and failed to show me where to go to wait for TSA after being at the store for 40 minutes. Completely unprofessional and a terrible experience.

My wife and I did a walk-in at this location for TSA pre check. We showed up 20min before it opened and waited two hours for service, but James running the service was very slow and seemed confused about what a walk in meant. He skipped my wife several times for those not even in their scheduled time or who showed up late. We ended up walking out because it was clear we were not going to get service. I get prioritizing those who have appointments, but don't put on your site that you accept walk-ins if this is how people are going to be treated. Another solution would be to have a second terminal to allow more flexibility, it seems as though there is plenty of demand for it.

Went at 2 pm on a Saturday for a simple Amazon return. Waited in line for over an hour due to having only 1 worker handling returns. Multiple other employees standing around watching.

I visit the Staples in Middletown, CT quite frequently, so much so that I have come to recognize many of the staff members. Overall, I am consistently greeted warmly, and the majority of the team provides excellent customer service.
Jamey in the print center is always exceptionally helpful and reliable. Jackie is also wonderful—she does everything she can to assist and is quick to seek out additional help when needed. The store manager, Mike, takes the time to help customers with even the smallest questions, which truly shows his commitment to customer care. Shawn in the tech department was especially helpful when assisting me with repairing my grandmother’s computer after it was infected with a virus.
The only negative experience I have had was with an employee named James, whom I do not see often. On that occasion, I asked for assistance and was told—quite abruptly—that he could not help me and was “TSA,” and I was told to go away.
Despite that isolated incident, I highly recommend this Staples location to friends, family, and business associates due to the consistently friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Woman working the Amazon counter was wonderful and so kind. Let’s move on from that…
The child working at the counter for UPS was ridiculously rude and unhelpful intentionally it seemed. It stood so far back from the counter acting as if he didn’t work there (FYI this was at 430 on Sunday December 21st, 2025) he seemed so inconvenienced to answer questions and immediately tried me to an actual UPS store instead of assisting me. I told him I have my item in an Amazon bag, he raised his voice and was rude saying “you need to go buy your own tape”… what? Since when? I use utilize Staples regularly for specifically Amazon returns… never had an issue with an employee printing up my ticket for UPS or putting a little piece of tape on the packaging.
Again, this was said in an extremely rude and condescending way. I get he doesn’t want to be working, but he acted as though he personally was paying for every single millimeter of tape used.
I ended up leaving because I won’t be talked down to, & I certainly will not be paying for a service that I already pay for by having Amazon prime. Amazon prime pays for Staples to send their packages back. There is a partnership and instead of honoring that a manchild got his panties in a twist. Crazy behavior.
I won’t return to this Staples in the future. Whenever I have returns moving forward, I’ll drive to one where employees are respectful to you as a person. Disappointing.
