I don’t think I’ve ever had such a pleasant experience at a post office before. I came for a passport application for my daughter as a walk in. Ritu was so kind to us & the rest of the staff had a great attitude.

I went to send a package on Saturday, February 28th, and I was assisted by Ms. Mary. I just wanted to express my great satisfaction with the service she provided. I felt very welcome and she was very attentive. It would be perfect if all stores had attendants like her.

I was desperate to find out where a package that had been sent to me, actually wound up being delivered. This was the DAY BEFORE XMAS EVE. I knew I would be in for lots of waiting. I expected having to wait to find an open parking spot. I expected to have to wait in a ridiculously long queue for service. I was wrong! Plenty of parking spaces! No one on line ahead of me! The postal worker who assisted me was polite, patient, knowledgeable, friendly + helpful. That was when I realized I must be in a parallel universe. I decided to make the best of my time while there.
I explained that my online vendor apprised me that the USPS sent confirmation of the delivery of the item I'd purchased from her. They provided a tracking number which led to the delivery in my mail box. Went to my mailbox - no package. Called vendor - she told me to contact my post master. At the Post Office I was told tracking # showed item delivered.
I live in a complex where there are 250 mail boxes. I asked how a tracking # shows proof of delivery to MY PARTICULAR mail box. Apparently, the mail carrier is supposed to scan the package + then place it in the mail box. Sounds good in theory. But when the mail carrier has all the mail boxes open simultaneously, how do we know for sure the item scanned was put in my mail box + not an adjacent one? Well, we don't.
The postal worker who was assisting me checked with the supervisor. I was directed to check with all my neighbors to see if any of them had received my package by mistake. That sounds good in theory. But in real life, I don't know all of the people residing in the other 249 units in my complex. Call me crazy, but in this day + age, I don't believe anyone knows 249 of their immediate neighbors.
Why are we buying things online, PAYING FOR SHIPPING + HANDLING and not receiving these items - only to be told to go hunt for them ourselves?
Was this a productive use of my 45 minutes at the PO? No. Was the postal employee to blame? No. Was this a completely avoidable problem? Yes. Will I give thanks this season of miracles, for having found a parking spot quickly and having gotten a postal employee to assist me quickly? Yes.
If, by any chance, you have received a package containing 2 kitchen towels with kittens dressed in Xmas attire, please let me know.
