- CTCollin TurbertMar 26, 20261.0USPS is understaffed and underfunded, that isn’t the staffs fault and isn’t unique to Lyons. But the lyons post office does control their hours including when passport appointments and walk ins are allowed. If you look at other post offices in the area they purposely do not overlap walk ins hours with appointment hours for passports. Fairly straightforward, keeps the walk ins hours available by ensuring people can’t book appointments during that time. For some reason our local post office hasn’t been able to figure that out. I took time off work, showed up to walk in hours right when they started, and sat in line for 30 minutes just for the lady to tell us we need to have an appointment. On top of it, the exact same staff member is the one that told us about the walk in hours the week prior. We weren’t the only ones there for walk in hours and I’m sure it’s happened many times before. I understand a lot of the issues with the post office are out of the control of the staff, but this one is not. This is simply incompetence, or indifference, or more likely a bit of both.

My poor kids who win free giveaways on Whatnot don’t get them because someone at this post office is a mail nazi. We get the pink slips every week saying we owe more for a single letter sent. I’ve talked to others on Whatnot and this isn’t happening anywhere but in this one little town! Then I have to go stand in line for 30min weekly cuz they never have more the one person working!! Something needs to change here!! I got a slip today stating we owe $14.22 for a small envelope!! You’re preventing kids from getting their free stuff they have won for FREE!! CHANGE THIS!!!
- EPEric ProckishDec 22, 20251.0Absolutely miserable experience each time I have to deal with this post office. I can't get any mail forwarded to me, packages are a lost cause. The tracking tells me that as soon as it gets to Lyons it gets returned to sender with no notice or slip from the post office. When I go in to ask what I can do to remedy the situation, they are rude and completely unhelpful. Multiple Christmas presents have not made it due to their complete incompetence. And judging by the other reviews, this will probably not result in any actual change but good God this makes receiving and sending mail miserable.
