We were awaiting our son's cremated ashes which were to arrive by guaranteed priority mail at 12 noon. We waited all day ( a painful experience), until about 4:pm thinking that they would probably be delivered the next day since we had to sign for them. Later when my husband went down the lane to our mail box he found our sons ashes. The carrier just put them in the mail box. The box clearly stated cremated remains, and the tag we were suppose to sign was ripped off. We can only conclude by this experience that the carrier was in a hurry or just did not care about what she was delivering or the fact that a signature was required. I hope the carrier understands that by not doing her job she caused additional pain to a family that was already suffering. I did call the post office but am unsure if anything will be done. The carriers need to understand how important their service is the community, I sincerely hope this never happens to any other parent.
