Tried to figure out how to combine 2 reviews in one. My first review is for Brandon in the shipping/Amazon drop off area. He gets 5 ⭐s. He was basically by himself and there was a line of us, he was working quickly and efficiently and the line was moving along nicely. (I later found out this was only his second week, he was still learning all the other parts of the job but was doing it all with a smile and the quickness of a pro). He deserves a raise and a promotion and I kept the stars high while still removing one to make a point. While all this efficiency was happening - with a giant line on a Friday at 1230pm (the Friday before Christmas I'll add), the Santa-manager - I call him that cause he was wearing a Santa shirt but clearly was the manager, taping boxes, minimally helping, saw a man casually walk up to the back of the line (as he should) with a package to ship. This manager, Jose, without being asked by the customer, or anyone said loudly, "you with the box, what are you doing? you shipping? You do not have to wait in this line, you come up here." He then aggressively proceeded to want his hands in the face of the older gentleman who had been standing waiting patiently to return his Amazon items while loudly (again) sitting to "STEP BACK SIR, WE'RE HELPING THIS GENTLEMAN FIRST!" Now he asked Brandon after putting this man ahead in line if he knew how to ship, he said he was pretty sure and kindly started the process while apologizing to all of us in line. This then took a WHILE because the man had to look up all the addresses, spell out all the names, then they had to measure the bankers box, weigh it, etc etc. The man in front that was forced back eventually left, Brandon did what he could to speed the process and another worker was very haphazardly semi supporting this process, put the sticker on then made Brandon take the man and the box to a different terminal to finish the process she easily could have completed for him to alleviate some of the pressure. Bottom line is, this never should have occurred. Amazon returns just like UPS and other shipping are SERVICES OFFERED THRU STAPLES. NEITHER of these things are Staples direct products or services. Why would someone shipping something out be moved to thefront of all the people waiting in the same line for the same services? Dumb. Does Staples get paid more from shipping service liasing than Amazon return liasing? Potentially the only reason HOWEVER, that is not the customers problem. The line was for Amazon returns AND the shipping center. If they want shipping and returns to be separate, there should be 2 separate lines and 2 separate computers and the manager, if no other employee was available, should have handled the shipment. The line grew to over 26 people by the time Brandon was done with the shipment and he quickly got the 3 people ahead of me and me out of the store with the speed we should have been out 20 minutes prior. Great job BRANDON. JOSE, read the room. Brandon would have gotten the then 12 people in our return line who had been waiting out and done before it was the shipping guys TURN in line wherein his time would have made sense as he would have waited like everyone else. There is no intention to sound Karen-y here, this is just obvious ridiculousness by a manager, putting undue stress on a fresh employee (who handled it well) and disregarding all the customers that had waited (above and beyond) their fair turn. This is about management and authority making power moves to disrupt a flow, put staff and customers in a state of stress all just to wonder off and let the fallout occur while he's doodling around the store. Hoping these things are noticed, good employees like Brandon are recognized and managers like Jose take pause and think before causing an issue that was unnecessary and affected 20+ people (most likely on their lunch breaks) that could have just been left alone to work as we have learned since kindergarten, to be kind, wait your turn, do your job and move on. To sum up, Brandon, 5 ⭐s Santa-manager, Jose, 0 ⭐s

No hate to the staff, but the returns line for Amazon is insanely long, and has been for months. I am not sure if the store management is ignoring the issue of it, but truly a grueling experience. Plus the staff look miserable while dealing with a line to the back of the store. All my returns have taken 30+ minutes. Is there no way to get a second computer scanner for returns?? Seems like the store is ignoring the issue.

I have gone to this staples 5 times in a row (all different times a day) just to find an hour wait to do Amazon returns. I had to go to UPS and pay $1 per return just so I could keep my schedule. At this Staples, I see lots of customers who are frustrated while there are numerous Staples employees who are obviously available and not helping! I find it VERY strange that Amazon buys Staples and then only assigns ONE person, when UPS has like 4, to handle the abundance of returns. Perhaps Amazon wants everyone to pay $1 for every return and force people to return to UPS? I believe this is the case because Amazon just made $3 off me today. The manager obviously knows of the LONG LINE PROBLEM and yet NO SOLUTIONS are being offered. Why is the manager responding to these complaints saying they are doing their best, when it is clear, they are NOT! Solution: Assign 3-4 people to do returns and people will most likely not be mad and might even make a purchase in your store!!! I don't know a single successful business in any industry who is fine with one hour waits....with no sense of urgency other than this place. The staff seems zombie like and even with an hour wait, there are times where new staff are being trained at a snails pace putting more strain on the customers. Really bad way to run a business. Shame on you. You should be embarrassed.
