I’m a tourist and needed to send a parcel from Palo Alto to Chicago, so I asked for some basic advice. I was the only customer in the post office at the time, yet the staff member was extremely unhelpful and unfriendly. This was actually the second parcel I’ve sent in the U.S. A couple of weeks earlier, I sent one from Los Angeles and the employee there was very helpful. That parcel was only a little lighter than this one and cost $38. This time, the parcel cost $82, which is a huge difference. I simply wanted to understand my options whether tracking was included and whether splitting the parcel into two might have been cheaper. She didn’t seem to understand what I was asking and made no effort to explain or help, despite there being no other customers waiting. In the end, I gave up and paid the $82, even though there may have been a cheaper option. I then asked if I could take a photo of the shipping label myself, as the recipient wanted a picture to help track the parcel. She refused and said it wasn’t my information. I explained that I had paid for the label, but she remained dismissive and unhelpful. Overall, the service was unfriendly and frustrating, and I left feeling overcharged and unsupported. I will definitely not be returning to this branch. This was a stark contrast to the helpful service I received at another USPS location, and it’s disappointing that basic customer service was lacking here.
