I am filing this complaint regarding a recurring pattern of unprofessional conduct and unethical sales tactics by an employee named Jarrett at the FedEx Office in Northridge, CA. As a professional in the shipping industry for over 10 years and an operator of a Commercial Mail Receiving Agency (CMRA), I am well-versed in FedEx packaging requirements and carrier safety standards. On March 6, 2026, I utilized the self-checkout kiosk to drop off a securely taped and structurally sound package. As I was exiting, Jarrett began yelling at me from across the store, claiming the package was "too damaged" for a driver to accept and threatening to return it to me. This is the second time I have had a hostile interaction with this specific employee. In a previous instance, he refused a package by incorrectly claiming it was wrapped in "brown paper" (it was actually clear-taped) and insisted I pay for a repackaging service. I subsequently took that exact same package to the FedEx Office in Simi Valley, where it was accepted without hesitation or issue. The core issues are as follows: Hostile Conduct: The employee’s decision to yell at a customer in a public retail space is a gross violation of professional standards. Inconsistent Enforcement: Packages that meet FedEx standards are being rejected at this location despite being accepted at others. Coercive Upselling: It appears the employee is intentionally rejecting shipments to force customers into paying for unnecessary repackaging services, which constitutes an unethical business practice. Desired Settlement: I would like a formal apology from the store management and a corrective action plan to ensure that this employee follows actual FedEx packaging guidelines rather than using them as a tool to intimidate customers or inflate sales figures.

This location is wonderful! I came in with a large shipment order for an event and the staff were all extremely helpful and kind. Vanessa and Walter helped me most in particular.
