If I hadn’t stopped her by asking “Where are you going?”, I would have just been left there waiting for nothing. When I confronted her, she replied: “I don’t have to tell you anything.” I made it clear: if you work with people, you do have to. That’s the minimum respect required. I don’t ask to know about her personal life or problems — I couldn’t care less. But when a customer is standing in front of you, you are obliged to say something like: “Excuse me, I’m going to lunch. Another clerk will assist you.” That is how respect works. She chose open rudeness instead.
