I run an online electronics business and have shipped this way for more than 15 years. My packages are always packed and ready to go—I only need the store to print the label, tape the box closed, and apply the label. I’ve always only been charged for label printing, which is $2.18. That’s been the standard process at multiple UPS locations for years. Today, this location suddenly claimed the “rules have changed” and tried to charge me an additional fee just to tape the box and put the label on it. Instead of $2.18, they charged $8.06. The owner/manager said this is a common charge at all UPS Stores now, which is completely false. I shipped a package just last week at another UPS Store, paid $2.18, and had no extra fees even when the package wasn’t fully ready. This location is clearly overcharging customers and making up policies. It feels like they’re trying to squeeze extra money out of people. There’s another UPS Store only 1.5 miles away go there instead and save yourself the headache.
