A staff member let us know he had taken his break a little late and had posted a sign saying the office would be “closed for lunch” from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. The only small plot twist? It was 1:17 p.m., and the office was still very much on lunch break. I also wasn’t the only customer standing there wondering if we had somehow entered a time warp. As someone who relies on the postal service to ship packages—usually while racing the clock—this surprise extension of lunchtime added an extra layer of excitement to my day that I hadn’t planned for. I completely understand the need for breaks, but perhaps the clock and the sign could be introduced to each other so they can stay on the same schedule. Thank you for your time—and hopefully next time, I’ll catch the post office when it’s open for business and not still savoring lunch.
