The reason is that Staples is now doing free amazon returns and doing it at the cashier desk. Did they hire an extra person to handle all the Amazon returns? Of course not. So now the wait to check out is outrageous. Amazon return line was out the door and the check out line was 10 deep. I will avoid Staples now and buy my office supplies from - Amazon. Staples do better because its no Easy anymore.

I walked around for 10 minutes looking for an ethernet cable. Nobody offered to help so I asked an employee behind the counter which isle computer cables were located. He told me that he was too busy to help me right now. I thought to myself, "You're too busy making photocopies to tell which isle computer cables are on?" So I went across the store to the next employee I found. He said they didn't have that cable in stock but he could order it and have it in about a week. I'm really trying to support a retail store but why would I wait a week when I can buy it from Amazon and have it delivered tomorrow? What is the competitive advantage of retail when nothing is in stock and the customer experience is bad?
