After waiting two minutes in line, the customer ahead of me walked off. I stepped up with my packages, ready to begin my transaction. The screen still showed the previous activity, so I waited for it to reset. When I politely greeted the clerk, Christine, with “Good afternoon,” she mumbled something under her breath. I had difficulty hearing her and assumed she hadn’t understood what I said, so I repeated myself three times. Only then did I realize she was saying, “I didn’t call you,” in a dismissive tone—clearly implying I should step back, despite it being my turn. To avoid further conflict, I stepped back—only for her to start helping someone else instead. I explained that I hadn’t walked off and had simply been waiting nearby. The interaction made the other customer uncomfortable, and Christine eventually agreed to help me, but without any apology for her disrespectful behavior. This kind of attitude is unacceptable from someone in a public-facing role. Basic respect and professionalism go a long way, and unfortunately, that was completely lacking here. I hope USPS management sees this and addresses it appropriately.
