The people who work here are wonderful (+1 star), but overall the USPS service (or lack thereof) on this mountain is hot garbage.
We get over a million tourists a year, and obscene amounts of money move through this city. Despite this, the local postal service refuses to deliver to most residents. This highlights the true incompetence of this organization.
I recently ordered a package from a company that did *not* allow deliveries to PO boxes. The delivery in question was sent via UPS to my home instead, with USPS operating the "last mile". Except, the USPS organization refuses to do this part of their job for us on this mountain. The thing is, they DON'T TELL CARRIERS THIS.
Locals know that in situations like this, the best-case scenario is an urgent trip to the post office *same-day*, or else the package will be sent back down the mountain as "rejected" or "undeliverable" by the next.
This is such a wonderful and special place to live, I will never understand why the USPS organization treats us locals like second-class citizens. When I first moved here, they (corporate phone line) told me no PO boxes are free over the phone. This was a lie, and because of that lie I still pay for a PO box because I don't want to go through the hassle of changing my address with the state, and three dozen other areas that require a mailing address.
Shame on USPS, taking advantage of us. I used to be a huge fan of this service, and supported it proudly. Now, I genuinely and truly hope they fail. If that happens, I hope the people who work on this mountain for them get better jobs. These are good people working for a terrible company that, unfortunately, we locals are all FORCED to use.

I typically don’t leave reviews, but I felt it was important to share my recent experience. During my visit, I encountered an employee — a bald gentleman — whose demeanor was unexpectedly rude and unprofessional. It was disappointing and left me feeling uncomfortable, to the point that I’m hesitant to return. Customer-facing employees should uphold a standard of courtesy and respect, as these qualities are essential in creating a welcoming environment. On a positive note, the staff at the Sugarloaf Post Office consistently provide exceptional service and exemplify kindness. Experiences like those should be the standard everywhere.

Just moved to Big Bear Lake and didn’t notice any mail boxes so decided to call the Post Office to get a quick update. Problem is nobody picks up and “phone system off” and hangs up. No menu selection to speak with anyone or to find our answers.
