Good people and clean. They do need to hire more peeps, sometimes the wait is too long.

I came here today to get my TSA pre-check done. When I arrived, I asked the associate, Angie, if she needed to start with my IDs, she ignored me. She then asked me if I had a passport. I responded with I didn’t have a passport. She said that I will need the approved IDs. I told her I just asked her that but she ignored me. She said she didn’t hear me, and I presented her with my birth certificate. When she inspected my birth certificate, she noticed that the embossed state seal had cut out part of the state from the paper. She said that she wouldn’t be able to accept it because my birth certificate was damaged. She stated she wasn’t able to accept it. I’m OK with the communication, I’m just not OK with her attitude. She had an attitude from the moment that I started talking to her to the moment I left. I shared with her that maybe Staples should consider adding that to the information about TSA pre-check so that it doesn’t cause any issues like this. She said that she had no authority to do any of that. “I just work here” in her own words. I said she has the capability of sharing feedback with her leadership team so that they can take it to the appropriate partners. She continued to push back. I also told her that the MVD had no issue accepting that same birth certificate whenever they processed my Real ID. I left and, of course, ordered another birth certificate. But this is the first time that it hasn’t been accepted, anywhere. Again, my issue isn’t with what is required, it is the way in which she decided to conduct herself. If you don’t like what you do that much, go get a different job. EDIT: directly after leaving this location, I went to a different location and they took my identification. I even asked afterwards if there should be any concern about my birth certificate since part of the state got punched out from the embossing. She said if she had any concern with my identification being damaged that she wouldn’t have accepted it. She even said that she has seen it before and it has always been approved. TJ, one of the managers at this location, all he cared about was knowing where I went because he feels like they broke the rules and that his associate was doing the correct thing. He constantly interrupted me and stated that he was sorry I felt that way. Not that he was actually apologetic that was the experience I had.

Just got my TSA pre-check out of the way and Angie at this Staples location was absolutely amazing. She was on time, so incredibly sweet, was patient with all of my questions about my dad‘s future TSA pre-check appointment, and absolutely lovely to work with. Well done Angie! Well done Staples! This was beyond easy.

Stopped in a few weeks ago for some quick printing work and truthfully I had never been inside of a staples before. With that, I was completely unaware of processes, how-to, etc. The associates were actively with other customers so I waited patiently for the girl in the printing area to finish up with a guest. I, a black woman, was completely disregarded by the employee who completely ignored me to helped a white customer. Felt cold, but whatever I carried on. But it was the difference in overall help that sealed the deal that didn’t feel normal? For lack of better words. I got what I needed and left but this will be my last stop at this location. A paying customer is a paying customer regardless of color and treatment should all be the same.
