The line was long today, but it moved very quickly. The employee that helped me was very kind and helped me understand the different options and prices.

USPS currently has a policy that enables the theft of consumer property—specifically, smartphones that USPS accepts for shipment, then diverts and withholds rather than delivering. - On October 24, 2025, before an international flight, I mailed a securely packaged smartphone from Sun City West to Surprise—only six miles away. – The package was clearly identified as a cell phone. – It was triple-wrapped in a bubble mailer and an outer thick envelope. – The Sun City West USPS accepted the package and $8.55 for this short-distance shipment. – USPS labeled it “HAZARDOUS” and “GROUND” for the six-mile delivery as required. - Instead of completing the local delivery, USPS diverted the shipment to a Hazmat facility all the way in Phoenix. – The facility continues to hold the phone and threatens to destroy it unless the recipient—who does not drive—retrieves it in person from Phoenix. - The Sun City West USPS, which accepted the package, told me three days after the scheduled delivery date that the recipient (who doesn’t drive) will receive a notice three to five weeks later instructing them to pick up the package in Phoenix. - This policy effectively forces consumers to retrieve items that USPS accepted for delivery, turning its process into an act of theft. - USPS took both payment and custody of a lawful item and then refused to deliver it. – If USPS prohibits these shipments or imposes additional requirements, it must disclose that before accepting the item and payment—otherwise, it facilitates theft. – USPS cannot take payment, seize property, and refuse delivery without committing misrepresentation, breach of contract, and potential theft under consumer and property protection laws. - Had USPS declined the shipment at the counter, no theft would have occurred. – I would have delivered the phone myself rather than pay $8.55 for USPS to steal and withhold it in Phoenix. – USPS must return and deliver the stolen phone as contracted. -At minimum, deliver back to the office that accepted it to ship. – USPS must implement systemic safeguards to prevent this form of consumer theft from occurring again. Legislators, USPS Inspectors, USPS Commissioners notified of this horrific policy! ***Update While local Postmaster gave no options, except the unacceptable nondelivery above but verbal dog patting on the head… Ai found USPS Commissioners. I emailed them the above, and they responded the next day, apologized immediately, said they’d work with me til resolved. May be able to jail break this stolen phone to a delivery to the recipient address. The US consumer protection office has been dismantled in 2025. Don’t know if Arizona has been able to strengthen theirs enough to address issue.

Patrick did an excellent job. He was very professional and polite and took care of some very unusual situations very quickly for me. He's a real asset to this location of the USPS!

I don't know what's going on with this post office, recently I have been experiencing missing packages, packages that are left and a locker box but the key is in somebody else's mailbox, mostly stuff that is coming from Amazon. They must be short-staffed? If so, from what I can remember, working at a post office was a good paying job would excellent benefits and a pension plan! I really don't know what's going on with this place it has been horrible. Sure we can all leave a review, but this isn't your typical business where they actually read the reviews and maybe do something to correct the problem. This is a government agency and they can actually kind of care less. But I thought I'd put my two cents in also, I cannot believe the mishandling of packages, and the lack of professionalism when delivering the mail. Oh well, I know this will be going on deaf ears, but we don't have any other choice it's the only place we can get our mail from it's not like we can just make a phone call and switch so that's why they really don't even care.
