Google wants me to describe what is a regular experience? Um, okay. Assuming they're asking about the post office I've been to most recently, it's our one post office in our tiny rural town. It's a lovely little building, and our postmistress is awesome. FIVE STARS for Elfrida Post Office! But if Google is asking about USPS in general, USPS gets three stars. For some reason, USPS has this rule that apparently only applies to rural post offices. Anyone who lives within a 1-mile radius of their post office isn't allowed to have USPS (mail) delivery to their home. This applies to us, so we have to go to the PO most days to check our post box -- which fortunately USPS provides to us for free, since they're the ones that won't let us have a mailbox at home. However, this causes a fair bit of confusion for anyone who's never lived in the rural US, including shipping and delivery companies and government offices. We have to include both our physical and mailing addresses on anything for delivery, since delivery companies have to pass a percentage of their packages to USPS to complete delivery, so if we don't have our PO box included, we won't receive the package (and Walmart, in particular, seems to almost always pass the biggest packages off to USPS, instead of delivering them to our door, so we have to go to the PO to collect them). Where it gets difficult is with companies that use the USPS database to confirm the delivery address -- because our physical address does not appear in the USPS database -- or don't allow delivery to PO boxes, so won't let us include "PO Box" in our address, even though our physical address is there, too -- so we have to pretend it's an apartment number, by using #, which our wonderful postmistress is able to interpret, to get the package to the right person, if the package is handed off to USPS for delivery. Confused? You're not alone. 😄

Negligent waste of time. Rented PO Box online, where the USPS website clearly states your box includes a street address where packages can be delivered. Drove 30 miles (60 miles round trip) to this PO and was told packages were "not allowed" and if they were received I would have to pay an additional fee. Requested a refund, and was given a postal money order for 65% of the amount my card was billed on the website. When I asked why I didn't get a full refund, I was told "bc thats all it will let me give you, and I'm not going to argue with you"
