The mail person apparently no longer will deliver oversized packages to your door. 🤬 Which means I have to wait till tomorrow to pick up my package because they are riding around with it in their vehicle all day. The email, from the post office, states that a note was left in my mailbox explaining their reason not delivering with instructions on what to do. THERE IS NOTHING IN THE MAILBOX EXCEPT THE MAIL! WTH!!

Inside this branch is one way - actual US Postal Workers who for the most part have been courteous (although you always find that "one" anywhere!); on the outside - Contracted mail carriers who apparently can set their own rules and deliver when/if they want and only if it's deemed "safe" in their eyes. When we 1st moved here (10 years ago), our mail carrier was older, prompt, never missed a delivery of any type; he retired and is greatly missed. The next one we had was up to the same par. The one we've had for the past year or so has been, well I wouldn't even give her ½ a star! And btw, we live in town! Very grateful to know that Amazon apparently feels the same way and did not renew their contract with USPS.

It actually relieves me to come here and read that I'm not the only one who has had such terrible experiences with this facility. We lived 20 plus years on a rural route before relocating to Fifty-Six, and never have I ever had such difficulty receiving packages as I have with this location. We aren't ridiculous, and can understand thay larger packages would be an inconvenience. But Im talking small, letter size boxes that have a designated place to be left. After contacting the post office several time, speaking to the postmaster to arrange a drop off location to make it easier, we received on package, then back to pink slips. We reached out several more times to see what the issue was- and informed by the one cranky lady clerk that "mail is the first priority, and other people have packages too." So anytime I have an Amazon package (which apparently always defaults to USPS over here), it will be delivered to the post office the day it is supposed to, marked as "out for delivery", then an hour or so later, marked "mailbox was full, delivery will be re- attempted." But you cannot simply go in that morning and get it. You have to wait until they are finished "unloading" for that day, although they've clearly already touched it twice. So you might can pick up around noon, but to be sure, you better just plan to get your package the following day. We reached out to the regional director after the most recent interaction with the local level, and she did reach out, but clearly nothing has changed. If the mail carrier doesn't have room, it would seem logical to hire an additional carrier for a route that is 25 minutes or more away from the post office. By far, one of the most disappointing parts of our move has been dealing with this facility and trying to get the things we needed while we build and settle.
