I came here for my birthday thinking it’d be nice to get a fresh haircut b/c I haven’t gotten my haircut in 6 years & I was extremely disappointed. Josselynn (sorry if it’s spelled wrong) took over 2 hours on my hair & it’s NOTHING like the reference photo. Even the other lady that was working there was looking at my hair like she didn’t like it...I asked for this cut (photo below) & then my final result (photo below). Took her 15 minutes to cut my hair (normal) the hairstyle I wanted was very simple. But the blowout… she used this tiny round brush & it took almost 2 hours & my hair was FLAT (photo below). Literally went home & did it myself EXACTLY how I asked. What a JOKE. How the hell do these people have licenses? This is why I haven’t been to the hair salon in 6 years & have been doing my own hair since I was a kid. Nobody knows how to cut hair nowadays. GIRL.. GO BACK TO SCHOOL.

Do not go to this Hair Cuttery, and if you do, do not book with ARNAJAH. She does not know what she’s doing and clearly does not know how to work with thick, long, curly hair. She played in my head the entire time. The bleach she used was crusting all over my face and was extremely dry. ( I took a shower later and there was so many bleach flakes inside of my shirt) She bleached my hair in huge sections and left parts of my roots unbleached. After rinsing the bleach out, she tried to comb my hair from the root while it was wet brittle and felt like it could snap. I had to take the comb from her and comb my own hair. The toner and chemicals she used left red burn marks on my scalp. And it didn’t tone anything. Later that day I spent so much money on products to restore my hair that felt like it was beyond repair. She bragged to my sister and me about being “the best with chemicals” and even engaged in gossip about her peers, acting like she’s great with bleach and color. In reality, she did not seem to know much at all. She constantly asked other workers for advice while actively doing my hair, which gave me tremendous anxiety. It was very clear she did not know what she was doing. She also made me sign a contract during the service while I’m sat in the chair, not before she even started my hair which made me feel uneasy, it felt very weird and manipulative. The manager came over, saw how bad my hair looked, and suggested doing a third round of bleach. I said no and told them I would rather do a darker toner instead. After that suggestion, ARNAJAH commented that my hair was “so strong,” which was insensitive and felt like she didn’t care for the health of my hair at all. During the consultation, ARNAJAH laughed about how the manager had messed up my sister’s hair years ago after my sister mentioned it. Later on, she turned around and asked the same manager, Asia , for advice on how to do my hair. She tried to allude that my ends were not lifting from an old color from 3 years ago, yet some of my ends did lighten and I was able to lighten them properly during a strand test. Even if that were the case, she left some of my hair unbleached at the root, and my natural hair color in a lot of places. My edges were still dark. They did not lift enough because she did not work in small sections. The toner she used burned my hair and left light spots everywhere, it didn’t even tone anything. She deep conditioned my hair, yet it was still dry as hell, and she kept pulling my hair. I had enough and left with my hair wet. I was furious. I went to the Hair Cuttery in Richmond to fix her mistakes, and they actually did. They restored my curls, toned my hair without burning my scalp, deep conditioned it properly, and I left with my hair feeling soft again. I’m still very depressed and shattered about the entire situation because I had grown my hair from a bald scalp three years ago and have grown an attachment to my hair. My hair still isn’t the same and it’s been hard for me to come to terms. If she knew she couldn’t do my hair, why take it on? If you go to this location, do not book with her. I walked in with big, full, healthy curly hair and left with my self esteem shattered. Luckily her lack of talent did not make all of my hair fall out. As I was leaving, she asked if she could blow dry my hair, but the fact that she did not even know curly hair has to be combed a certain way told me everything I needed to know. The Richmond salon left me with a beautiful color and did their best to fix her mistakes. ARNAJAH treated my hair like an experiment instead of caring for it properly. She genuinely needs her license revoked. These are pictures of her work

I want to thank Asia for doing a wonderful job. She was patient in helping me choose the right hair glaze, but we ended up not needing it because the bleaching of the roots gave me the exact color I was looking for! I love it!! She is a true professional and awesome hair stylist.

Unfortunately I was unable to get my hair done although there is probably some great talent here. I booked a same day appointment. I showed up on time checked in on the kiosk and had a seat. About 10 minutes later someone comes from the back confirms my information looks at the computer and says you're scheduled with so and so and she's off today. I explained to her that I booked online and checked the box for whoever was available to be my stylist as this was my first time here. If that stylist is off today then why would your system assign me to her?Furthermore, they open at 8:00 am and my appointment was booked around 8:30am for an 11:45 slot which means that they had 3+ hours to give me a phone call or text and let me know this before I wasted my time, my gas, and my half day of work that I had to take off for (for nothing) She did say another stylist would be in at 3pm (3 + hours after my appointment time) however that didn't work for me. They really should look into getting their online booking fixed. I guess if you need to book here it's best to call for an appointment and don't use the online system. I won't be back as I didn't even get as little as an apology for wasting my time today. Edit to add, today I receive a no show email. Comical being yall were the ones that couldn't accommodate me nor give me the courtesy to cancel in advance.
