  They’re very friendly and always give a great haircut! They really make sure you’re satisfied with the results, and I was genuinely very happy with my haircut. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a good salon. It’s a small place, but it’s so nice and welcoming!

  Took my grandson to get his haircut at another shop that had one client n was told they was full n couldn’t take anymore clients for the day, and were very rude, so went across town n got in at this shop. They were great ! Very nice, and worked well with young children. Grandson sat still the whole time, no loved his lollipop at the end. I highly recommend this particular shop…. Not the one across the other side of town !

  My stylist, Jalisha asked the right questions about what I wanted and the style results were perfect. I had an excellent experience. To save some time, another stylist, Andrew did my shampoo. He was excellent as well.

  When I made an appointment at the Hair Cuttery on Staples Mill Road in Richmond, VA I specifically asked for stylists that had EXPERIENCE working with natural, African-American Hair. 2 separate stylists worked on my hair; one did the cut and one did the style. I showed both stylists pictures (of ME) with the exact style that I wanted for my hair and they both agreed that they could do what I asked for. The cut went well, but the ending style looked horrendous. When the final stylist showed me my result in the hand mirror, I was too shocked at how hideous I looked to tell her that her work was horrible. I just wanted to rush out and get home to RE-DO my hair. I came to Hair Cuttery dressed to be a presenter an event right after the appointment and I ended up having to CANCEL my engagment because my hair looked so bad. My husband even commented on how bad it looked. I called back from my car and spoke to Jalisa, the manager, and she asked me if I had told the stylist at checkout time while I was still inside the salon that I wasn't happy with the results. I admitted that I didnt because I was too shocked and embarrassed to say anything. She asked if I could come back in 24-48 hours and I asked "for what?" Jalisa said that they could redo the style or make an adjustment to the price. I told her that I wouldn't be doing that. Jalisa went on to chastise me saying "if you had said something while you were here, I could have done something." I said if you're not going to do anything to make up for the $83 cut and style that I paid for, then at least give those stylists feedback on doing styles from pictures. Ask the client questions, or admit you can't do what they're asking. Save both parties some time and energy. This was the WORST hair salon experience that I've ever had anywhere, and I've been a hair cuttery customer for decades. But, today was my last day as one. I shouldn't have felt worse coming OUT of your salon than I did going in.
