Sephora Tysons-
Do better, seeing other reviews, clearly there’s a pattern at this store, and that’s rude employees giving terrible customer service. Come on, you work in retail, get off your high horses.

Extremely Disturbing Experience
This was one of the most upsetting retail experiences I’ve ever had. The other staff were fine, but the behavior of one male employee who seemed to be in his 50s-60s was completely unacceptable and extremely intimidating.
I was looking for a product in a very cramped aisle and had to crouch down to look through the products. After choosing one, I stood up and accidentally bumped into this employee, who was standing extremely close directly behind me. I immediately turned around and apologized, then continued browsing.
Instead of saying anything, he just glared at me in an extremely uncomfortable and intimidating way. I became nervous but tried to continue shopping.
What happened next was shocking. He followed me around the store for approximately 10 minutes, then confronted me and started yelling at me, accusing me of intentionally bumping into him and claiming that I had never apologized.
I was completely stunned and explained that I had apologized immediately. He continued yelling and said he “didn’t hear” me. I was so frightened and overwhelmed that I apologized two more times, despite already having apologized, simply because I wanted to de-escalate the situation. He never apologized for his behavior and eventually just walked away.
I was so shaken afterward that I ended up crying.
As a young girl shopping, being followed around a store by a male employee and then confronted and yelled at was genuinely frightening. His attitude throughout the entire interaction felt incredibly entitled, hostile, and intimidating. This was an accidental bump in a cramped aisle—not something that warranted following a customer around and aggressively confronting them.
When we were checking out, we asked another employee about him and whether he worked there. She confirmed that he did and told us that he was the manager. I cannot independently confirm his exact position, but if he was in fact the manager, that makes this experience even more concerning.
I had actually planned to continue shopping and purchase several more things, but after this encounter I felt so unsafe that I immediately left. I only purchased the one item I had already picked up.
This is especially concerning for Sephora because women make up such a significant part of its customer base. How can you expect young women to feel comfortable returning to your stores when a male employee is following them around, intimidating them, and yelling at them?
Customer service is not just about selling products. Customers should feel safe, respected, and welcome. Instead, I left feeling frightened, humiliated, and uncomfortable enough that I didn’t want to remain in the store.
This was not simply “bad customer service.” Being followed around the store, confronted, yelled at, and repeatedly accused of intentionally doing something after already apologizing was completely disproportionate and unacceptable.
I sincerely hope Sephora takes this seriously and reviews what happened, including any available store footage. No customer should leave a Sephora feeling unsafe enough to cry and immediately leave.

I have shopped at Sephora locations all over the country, and the Tysons Corner location was hands down the worst Sephora—and one of the worst retail experiences—I have ever encountered.
The customer service was essentially nonexistent. I spent a considerable amount of time in the store and was repeatedly and blatantly ignored. Employees were present, but apparently acknowledging customers, offering assistance, or showing even a basic level of courtesy was too much to expect.
And to be clear, this wasn’t a situation where the store was simply busy and employees were overwhelmed. I can understand that. This was an atmosphere of complete indifference. The employees I encountered came across as rude, dismissive, and genuinely uninterested in whether I needed help or even whether I remained in the store.
For a retailer selling premium beauty products at premium prices, that is unacceptable. Sephora spends a tremendous amount of effort positioning itself as a place where customers can discover products, ask questions, receive recommendations, and enjoy the shopping experience. None of that exists when your employees make customers feel like an inconvenience for simply walking through the door.
What is particularly telling is that I have visited Sephora stores throughout the country and have never felt compelled to write a review like this. That should say something about just how bad this experience was.
Sephora corporate should seriously evaluate the management, training, and customer service culture at the Tysons Corner location. When multiple employees can watch a customer spend an extended amount of time in the store without anyone bothering to acknowledge or assist them, that isn’t one employee having a bad day—it reflects a problem with the store itself.
There are far too many places to buy beauty products to tolerate being treated like you’re invisible. I’ll gladly spend my money elsewhere.

I’ve visited this Sephora countless times, and recently it was my best experience yet! I came in with my sister just looking to upgrade a few of our makeup products since we don’t wear makeup very often, and Shirin was absolutely amazing. She helped both of us find our perfect shades and was so patient, kind, and caring throughout the entire experience. She never made us feel rushed or pressured to buy anything, and she took the time to really listen to what we were looking for and made thoughtful recommendations. You can tell that Shirin cared and genuinely wanted us to love the product.

Honestly one of the worst experiences I’ve had at a Sephora. Staff was just cold and slightly stand off ish. I’ve never felt like such an inconvenience at a Sephora. More petite blonde woman, Taylor I believe also had a hand in my experience seemed like a possible manager.
