  Genet has always been the most outstanding hair stylist. She has been cutting my hair for as long as she's worked at Penrose Square. I have always found her to be extremely competent, and she's very kind. She has always been accommodating of my and my husband's wheelchairs. She always rearranges her front window station to fit my wheelchair so she can cut my hair. Imagine my dismay when I found her at the cornermost back station Monday morning when I came in to get a haircut. Genet really had a difficult time fitting my wheelchair into her new abysmal spot. I will only let Genet cut my hair! No one can do the fantastic job she does! I ask that you move her back to her front station. She is an absolute incredible hair stylist!

  I used to come to this hair cuttery for long time and I stop coming due to medical reasons however I brought my daughter to get her hair done for school. The staff here is why I come. They are so professional, kind and reason for always for me to think back I they used treat for 20+ years was wonderful. Today while I was sitting and waiting for my daughter hair to be done. The manager and one of the employees was talking especially the manager was basically yelling telling the employee that she can’t take 3 month of for maternity leave even 2 month is too much. I believe this is very personal information and we as a customer should not hear what the employee and manager are talking especially something like this. The employee even said she sent something to the HR and manager kept yelling saying show me, show me. The distance between them was manager was heading out to the back closer to bathroom and employee was the start of the dryer. This is not professional. Manager should always keep employee personal information private not the whole salon should not hear it. Very disappointing! My daughter hair looks wonderful as always and her stylist did wonderful job!

  I have been a loyal customer for over 10 years at the Hair Cuttery Penrose store in Arlington, VA. Whenever I go, the hair stylists always do a great job and are full of joy. However, on my last visit (8/13/26), there had been a change and the stylists were upset. When I asked why, I learned that they were forced to move from the chairs they have used for years for no apparent reason. It seems to me that they are not being shown the respect as they should be. Despite the circumstances, the stylist still did a great job as usual on August 13th. Please help restore the joy and respect to the Penrose location and give them their chairs back. Thank you.   I’m not one to leave negative reviews, but after spending over $300, my experience was very disappointing. My appointment was at noon, but I wasn’t in the stylist’s chair until 12:45. The stylist was extremely rough with my hair, so much so that I was wincing multiple times, the color was not what I requested; I asked for red, but my hair came out purple. My glasses, which were sitting on the stylist’s table, also got hair dye on the lenses which I have not been able to remove, and to top it off, I was overcharged for the service. I was charged as if I received all over single color, full foil highlights, and a haircut when I only received foil highlights and a haircut. Overall, between the long wait, rough handling, incorrect tone, stained glasses, and unexpected charges, this was a very disappointing experience and I will definitely not be back.

  Hanah at Haircuttery in Arlington is an artisan! She gave me a wonderful cut and great advice on color and conditioning. I will never go to another stylist in the greater DC area. Superb results!
